"West Indies" and "Caribbean" are often used interchangeably, though their precise historical and geographical meaning have varied greatly. Today the the "West Indies" refer to the island nations and territories of the Antilles, the Bahama Archipelago, and the Turks and Caicos Islands; while "the Caribbean" includes these and the nations and territories around the Caribbean Sea. A typical list of Caribbean and West Indies countries and territories includes:

  • Dominican Republic
  • Grenada
  • Guyana
  • Haiti

  • French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin (France)
