Paigen writes this review article in the same year as the completion of the mouse genome sequence. He traces recent progress for mouse genetics in detail, particularly with regard to the mapping of the mouse genome. Paigen highlights advances in the ability to produce transgenic knockout mice, as well as in the abilities to induce mutation and locate its genetic source.
