LTRs (long terminal repeats) are identical sequences of DNA of several hundred base pairs located at each end (the 5' end and the 3' end) of the viral genome. The structure of the LTRs facilitate the insertion of the viral genome into the host cell's genome. A retrovirus' integrase is specific to that virus' LTRs.
