The TEMPRANO study was conducted in the Ivory Coast in 2008–2015 to see whether very early ARV treatment (e.g., soon after diagnosis) would result in better AIDS outcomes. The results of TEMPRANO along with those of START (Strategic Timing of Antiretroviral Treatment) study, 2011–2016 led to the adoption of early, asymptomatic ART.
